Aggregative Growth of Silicalite-1
Sililcalite-1, an all-silica zeolite, is a model system for the hydrothermal crystal growth studies. My work involves the extensive use of a combination of transmission electron microscopy (TEM) techniques, such as, cryo-TEM and high-resolution TEM, with small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) to study the silicalite-1 growth at very early stages. The results are in agreement with the proposed model of the evolution of precursor nanoparticles from a disordered structure to silicalite-1 nuclei, and crystal growth by an aggregative mechanism.
